pianoSonoma Announces 2024 Vino & Vibrato Concert Series

pianoSonoma, under the leadership of Co-Founders and Artistic Directors Jessica & Michael Shinn, announces the 2024 season of Vino & Vibrato, a 4-part concert series held at the Green Music Center at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, California with concerts on July 16, 18, 23, and 25.

This year’s series includes performances by Bay Area favorite Peter Dugan (piano) and wife, mezzo-soprano Kara Dugan, cellist Michael Dahlberg, pianist and violinist Gabrielle Chou, pianists Sasha Kasman Laude and Christine Wu, violinist Doori Na, trumpeter Riley Mulherkar, and the Shinns, performing music from Baroque to Jazz, exciting contemporary works by Thomas Ades and Amy Beach, the world premiere of Songs from Joe's Chapel by Thomas Cabaniss, and much more. Highlights include the Bach Chaconne in D minor for solo violin, played by Na, the Shinns performing Schubert's Fantasy in F minor for piano four hands, and Mendelssohn’s D minor trio, played by Na, Dahlberg, and Dugan.

pianoSonoma is thrilled to announce the return of Artist Exchanges and Wine Tastings for the 2024 season. Artist Exchanges give audience members a chance to gain insight into the lives and minds of pianoSonoma Artists in Residence and to give each of their performances more personal context. This year's Artist Exchange will be held on July 18 at 4:30pm and led by Riley Mulherkar, a 2020 recipient of Lincoln Center’s Emerging Artist Award.

In addition to this year’s Artist Exchange, a special world premiere performance of Thomas Cabaniss’s Songs from Joe’s Chapel will be held on July 25 at 4:30pm, prior to the Vino & Vibrato concert. This set of 24 miniature solo piano pieces features Sasha Kasman Laude, Gabrielle Chou, and Jessica Chow Shinn in rotation at the piano.

All concerts are held at Schroeder Hall at GMC and start at 6pm PT following 5:30pm Wine Tastings. The pre-concert special events—the Artist Exchange on July 18 and world premiere on July 25—take place on the Thursday of each week and begin at 4:30pm prior to the wine tasting. Artist Exchanges, Wine Tastings, and the world premiere performance are included in the cost of tickets for that evening. Tickets are on sale now at gmc.sonoma.edu.
